New Chief to lead Intercept Expansion

There is no doubt that virtualisation is leading IT industry growth in difficult times. Intercept want to be at the forefront of this at every stage. A 72% growth in our business last year ratifies our unique solutions and customer service. But we want to go further, deliver more, and help our customers develop their businesses.

Enter, Richard Gilder – our new CEO. Richard holds executive and non-executive directorships for a number of technology firms, including Intercept, where he is a significant shareholder. He brings over twenty years experience running successful businesses in sectors as diverse as property and technology. Most recently, Richard established a value added distributor for Citrix and server-based computing solutions. He is a fervent believer in the power of people and technology to transform business operations to reduce costs and improve productivity, and is a relentlessly positive change agent within Intercept.

The appointment follows our corporate restructure for further growth, that sees co-founder and former CEO, Ian Readman appointed as non-executive Chairman. Readman is based in the US, so it makes sense to appoint a chief executive solely for the UK. The corporate restructure also sees Rodney Azavedo take responsibility for leading sales, and general manager Will Brooks promoted to operations director.

Gilder plans to drive Intercept's growth in virtualisation, hosting and cloud computing, aiming for similar company expansion over the next two years as the previous.

"Firstly I would like to commend my predecessor for establishing Intercept as a market leader and innovator in the virtualisation industry" says Gilder. "This will be a challenging period as we look to successfully sustain our growth through the global recession. However, with the accomplishments achieved during Ian's tenure, Intercept is well placed for even greater success."

As Gilder told CRN Magazine last week:"We have three data centres for hosting, which we will be investing in more as Microsoft furthers its technology particularly around Exchange, CRM and SharePoint."

"Our aim is to take advantage of the boom in virtualisation and cloud computing and aid market expansion with a newly energised leadership team. The current economic climate is compelling firms of all sizes to seek alternatives to capital IT infrastructure investments, and Intercept is seeing increased opportunities in outsourced, onsite management, as well as subscription based hosted IT services, both of which allow businesses to be more flexible in their IT requirements, in order to meet user demand."

Andrew Binding, UK managing director of virtualisation distributor Magirus, said: "Intercept has aggressive growth plans and, as with a lot of companies firmly in the virtualisation space, it is weathering the current climate well."

Richard will continue to be supported by Intercept’s other co-founder, Gary Collins, who retains his position as CIO. Gary will lead significant investments in Intercept’s on-demand, Cloud computing business to showcase its leading-edge technology.
